The Photographer Behind the Images

The Photographer Behind the Images

Hi! Thank You for Being Here

I'm Amelia, the photographer and founder behind Azure Studio - a labour of love.

Get to Know The Photographer Behind the Images

What inspires me most is simple: being out on a bright sunny day, anywhere in the world, drawn in by the architecture and nature of a new place I can't walk past without stopping to take out my camera.

An Eye for Colour

I'm also a sucker for colour - when the palette of a place works so well together it feels like an artist designed it. You'll see that obsession clearly in prints like Colours of Oia and Venetian Traffic, where the scene almost does the work for me.

Something I've only recently noticed about my own photos: I love a leading line. I don't do it on purpose, and half the time I don't even realise I'm doing it while I'm taking the photo. I think it's just years of photography eventually training my eye. You can see it quite clearly in Gateway to the Aegean Sea and Milford Sound.

And on the flip side, I've come to really appreciate dead space too, leaving room in a frame for just the ocean or the sky, just for the sake of a cleaner, more minimal look.

Day-to-Day at Home

I'd love nothing more than my days to be filled with travelling and shooting, but honestly? At home, my mornings usually include pilates, a matcha and a catch-up with friends, then a swim or a surf. I'll occasionally grab my camera or the drone and head to the beach to see if anything interesting turns up, but I'm genuinely picky about what makes it into my collections

I don't release every nice photo I take,  I like to keep my collections meaningful — curated, and each print chosen because it means something or captures a specific feeling, not just because it's a nice photo.

The place that stole my heart

If you've read my “The Start of Azure Studio” blog, you'll know a huge reason I dreamed of visiting Greece (Santorini and Mykonos especially) was because of my grandma's paintings. But nothing prepared me for how much I'd fall for Milos. It's quiet, underrated (thankfully less busy), and has the clearest water I have ever seen in my life. It will always hold a place in my heart, and if you haven't been, put it on the list.

Quick fire

My coffee order while travelling is actually a matcha, if I can hunt one down.

My pre-flight ritual? A cheeky Moscato at the airport.

And something I probably shouldn't admit: I am almost never the one who plans the holiday. That's all my partner: he researches the flights, finds the accommodation, sorts the activities, AND takes about 99% of the photos of me.

I’d like to think I’ve taught him well

Why quality (and price) matters to me

I care about print quality for a pretty simple reason: I wouldn't want to spend my own money on a photography print and be disappointed when it arrived. My name is attached to this brand - it represents me, and I represent it. At the same time, I wanted to make sure there's a more affordable option too. I know what it's like to want something beautiful and just not have the budget for it, so offering that range matters to me just as much as the quality does.

What's next?

One thing you should know about me, I always have a trip in mind, if not already booked. So there's a few destinations in the works, but you'll have to wait and see.

I can’t wait to keep expanding my collections, the more I travel.

Come along for the journey. I promise you'll be glad you did
